2011 Review…What an amazing year

What a year it has been for me and my business. I moved house at the beginning of the year, which I was nervous about, however Lily and I have found our niche back in civilisation and completely loving being close to almost everything. We had a visit from my sister from England and she brought with her her boyfriend who was able to experience a wonderfully warm August, infact it was warmer weather I think than what we are having now! I donned the front cover of a magazine!! This was a huge moment for me! And Jaimee and Ryan with their gorgeous wedding became the signature image of Skye Photography. Photographically, I have found myself. I have had some amazing brides and grooms, fun engagement shoots and my fair share of newborns wee and spew on me. All of which I have loved every second. I am continuing my journey with photography learning from anything and anyone who is willing to share. What is it I love about this job? ( and I use the word job ever so loosely as it doesnt feel like a “job”). I love the energy of weddings, the happiness, the love, the gorgeous little details. Newborn and family shoots are a different kind of love, the connection between families is always something special to be able to capture and make into everlasting images. But it is the words and happiness that comes when people first view their images. I have enjoyed every second, thankyou to all my wonderful clients for allowing me to be part of your special days and special moments that you will now cherish forever. A special thankyou to my Mum and Dad and my wonderful friends Bek and Sara, for continually encouraging and believing in me and making me strive for excellence in this field which I love. To all my Facebook followers and friends your kind words on all my posts really mean the world to me, and thankyou.

So here is my Body Of Work for 2011. I hope you enjoy, its always nice to go back and look at how much I have grown and remember all of the fun times I have had on location with awesome people. Thankyou again for being part of Skye Photography.

It has been such an honour to be photographing this family for 3 years in a row and seeing this little man grow up. We were so lucky with the weather to get our shoot in, a very humid morning before the storms rolled in for the afternoon. Robert has grown up to a sweet little man, with porcelain like skin and the most gorgeous big brown eyes. Simply too cute.x

What a delight it was to spend time with this little girl. She didn’t winge at all the entire time I was in front of her with my big black camera, no smiles, but continual glances straight into my lens. After the shoot was over we had a special little chat, where she did what babies do best, drooled all over my arm and then kept brilliant eye contact while she gooed and gaaaad to me. I was delighted at how she took to me. She made me seriously clucky…..I mean come on look at those eyes and that stunning hair. (I love red hair)

Today I took Lily to the art gallery in Campbelltown. The works on display weren’t our cup of tea, and after she has been to the Louvre and the Tate, she wasn’t interested in the offering there. However, she did LOVE the Japanese Gardens and the sculpture garden. She ran around the sculpture’s and involved herself with them, walking up the stream of water, trying to get into the car, and sitting on top of the strange looking animal carved from stone. A brilliant lunch at the cafe, this is a place I think we will be visiting often.

I met little Holly last year for her newborn shoot. How she has grown into a beautiful little girl. I had a wonderful time playing amongst flowers and also watching Mum and Dad sing and dance to get Miss Holly to smile and laugh. It is always wonderful having clients come back to you to catch up and see how much their children have grown. Enjoy.xx

How quickly the year has gone. I cant believe that it has been an entire year since I last visited this family to take photographs of their baby Robert. A year later and he has certainly grown up, but still so super cute with super proud parents. He was for a short time fascinated with my camera and he looked straight down the lens at me with his beautiful big brown eyes!!!

Christmas Competition | Sydney and Southern Highlands Photographer

This years competition wont be drawn out of a hat, it will be based on YOUR creativity! For years I have taught Photography and taught what our great masters have said what Photography is. But what is it to you? To me, I think it is capturing the right moment at the right time in the right light. And when I say the right moment, I mean capturing what is an ordinary moment to some and making it into something extraordinary. That is what a photographers job is to me, to see the beauty in an object or the emotion in a person and be able to use what is given to us at that time to create a timeless photograph to be admired for years to come.

But thats what Photography is to ME. What is it to YOU?

Tell me what you believe photography is. What it stands for. Would our lives be different without it? What worth do we hold on precious memories taken with a camera?

Its Spring Time | Sydney Family Photographer

The sun was beaming early in the morning, and with it was a gorgeous warm day. Perfect light in the afternoon for photos, and warm enough for summer dresses! From the very start everyone was enjoying the shoot. Mimo and Virginia had a special few photos together without the kids, which I just love. The laughs, the connection and so relaxed. All of the kids having fun while having their photos on their own before showing me their climbing skills on the gate. Hope you guys enjoy your sneak peak and your slideshow!!
