2011 Review…What an amazing year

What a year it has been for me and my business. I moved house at the beginning of the year, which I was nervous about, however Lily and I have found our niche back in civilisation and completely loving being close to almost everything. We had a visit from my sister from England and she brought with her her boyfriend who was able to experience a wonderfully warm August, infact it was warmer weather I think than what we are having now! I donned the front cover of a magazine!! This was a huge moment for me! And Jaimee and Ryan with their gorgeous wedding became the signature image of Skye Photography. Photographically, I have found myself. I have had some amazing brides and grooms, fun engagement shoots and my fair share of newborns wee and spew on me. All of which I have loved every second. I am continuing my journey with photography learning from anything and anyone who is willing to share. What is it I love about this job? ( and I use the word job ever so loosely as it doesnt feel like a “job”). I love the energy of weddings, the happiness, the love, the gorgeous little details. Newborn and family shoots are a different kind of love, the connection between families is always something special to be able to capture and make into everlasting images. But it is the words and happiness that comes when people first view their images. I have enjoyed every second, thankyou to all my wonderful clients for allowing me to be part of your special days and special moments that you will now cherish forever. A special thankyou to my Mum and Dad and my wonderful friends Bek and Sara, for continually encouraging and believing in me and making me strive for excellence in this field which I love. To all my Facebook followers and friends your kind words on all my posts really mean the world to me, and thankyou.

So here is my Body Of Work for 2011. I hope you enjoy, its always nice to go back and look at how much I have grown and remember all of the fun times I have had on location with awesome people. Thankyou again for being part of Skye Photography.

It is always a pleasure to revisit clients that I have photographed their wedding for their next special moment. Their first born. It was lovely arriving to Darren and Erins home and seeing the photos I took at their wedding around the house. Meeting this little man certainly pulled the heart strings and I think the word cute was used in epic proportions during my time with this family. Newborns are so special and its always SO good when they decide to sleep for me during the shoot!

I cherish the moments that I am able to achieve for my clients. After this session it really hit me how much I love what I do. I spent the morning with a lovely family, we talked the entire time as if we already knew each other, as we waited for Jacob to fall asleep. Of course it is never easy….but he eventually got there allowing me to get the cute skin sleepy pics that we all love so much. It really is an honour to be invited into peoples home to capture such intimate feelings within the family.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet this adorable little man who co-operated so well in going to sleep for our shoot. He has absolutely doting parents who are completely at ease with their new man. The result, some gorgeous photo’s that I just LOVE. These should make anyone sigh a big “awwwwwwwwww” from the cuteness.

Newborn shoots can last for hours with how unpredictable babies are. This shoot it seemed just went so quickly, so smoothly. A little man whose completely adoring parents worked well with me to achieve this gorgeous shot. I always upload my images as soon as I get home, but this shot I just couldn’t wait to share. I have tried this a number of times with other babies as you need to move them around whilst they are sleeping and balancing that little head isn’t easy. But this time I got it, and Im SO happy with it I am sharing it straight away!!!!! I hpoe the parents are as excited with it as I am

I haven’t been able to stop working on these images since the shoot on Thursday. This little man has had my undivided attention. There is something about Newborns in their bare skin, shot in black and white that makes my heart skip a beat. This special newbie stage lasts for all of 3-4 weeks. It was one of my favourite times so far as a Mother. The cuddles, the bonding and just staring as the hours pass at how wonderfully cute these little cherubs are. Hope you enjoy the upload overload, but I just have to share the cuteness. xx

What a pleasure it was to meet this family, and especially little R, who has the most perfect baby skin you have ever seen!
