Snippets of My Summer | A Photo A Day Day 1-8

A yearly challenge I am embarking on for my fourth year. A photo from each day. Usually I start this in January, but I am starting early this year to try and challenge myself to last for 2 months rather than one. This year I want to push myself further and push boundaries and be creative. And try not to take photos of Lily EVERY day, although the photo a day results in a lovely set of photographs of our summer together. Hopefully by the end of January you will see my life’s passions as a mother, a daughter, a photographer, an excellent home cook ( yes I dream to be on masterchef…and of course win) and lover of the summer time. I hope you enjoy the snippets from my summer.

Day One: Lily

I know I know I said not as many of her. HOWEVER. I had wanted to play around with my Lensbaby which I haven’t used FOREVER. I want to take some shots with it on the wedding I have on the weekend. So a quick little shoot out the back and then out the front. Which then resulted in my camera dying. This showed me that technology as great as it is, is not fail safe!!! I had thought Id lost these shots, so the fact they are here I had to use them. Getting re-aquainted with the lensbaby was great. Its quite hit and miss but when you hit and get the focus right I find it quite pleasing.

Day 2: On my way to pick up the new camera, 4.5 hours later brand spanking new 5D mark 2.

Day 3: Bek and I at Ria and Pete’s Wedding. A gorgeous day and So much fun.

Day 4: And she sleeps…..

Day 5: I have a headcold….waoooo ooooo

Day 6: Random French guy selling art at my door.

Day 7: A break in the rain. Has not been the ideal start to summer this year.

Day 8: Like Mother Like Daughter. I have taught her the shoes make the outfit. She LOVES shoes. She LOVES my shoes.

Within my family we have always referred to places far away as being “Out the back of Bourke”. So you can imagine my amazement when I answered the phone to Annabel and she was in fact calling me….from Bourke! He fiance Ben lived here in Sydney and after doing the long distance relationship for long enough, Annabel moved to Sydney. Their engagement shoot I loved and after it I couldn’t wait for their wedding which Annabel explained would be on a boat on Sydney Harbour.

The day was beautiful, and although it rained everyones spirits remained high. Our Bridal shoot really made me work hard getting enough shots done before the skies opened up again. Many of the guests were wet from head to toe, but they were all still laughing and smiling as they boarded the boat to spend the evening celebrating the marriage of Ben and Annabel.

Today Highlife Bride hit the stores donning my gorgeous wedding couple Jaimee and Ryan. I have 2 of my weddings featured in the magazine, and they look amazing. Im as proud as punch to see them in print. Now…..for looking forward to all the business its going to bring my way!!!!

Drew and Siobhan ENGAGED | Sydney and Southern Highlands Wedding Photographer

I have known Drew for many years, since school. Drew is also my very talented Graphic Designer, having created my new logo which I just adore! He and Siobhan have been together for years, and in a few months will be setting a stunning vintage scene for their friends and family to gather to witness them pledging their love for one and other. After my day with them, they seriously have to be the most relaxed couple there is. And they move together like clockwork, they have it nailed getting that boat an AND out of the water whilst we watched others struggle. We were SO lucky with the weather being able to get some shots on the shore line, and then into the boat. I have little boating experience. So my first Sydney Harbour experience I was armed with my camera (which I held onto VERY tightly and we sped along) and I wasnt sure whether to scream, shriek or hide under the dashboard. (if thats what its called??). Once we stopped, it seemed that buoyancy was to become my challenge for this part of the shoot, with the Harbour Bridge in the distance, it would disappear with the bobbing of the boat. And the bobbing wasnt doing wonders for the stomach either! The end result was some cool pics on the water, before getting rained out!!!!! Happy Valentines Day | Sydney Lifestyle Photography

I spent the afternoon of Valentines Day with Mr and Mrs Cupcake. Nicci is the very talented cake maker from Cupcakes in Camden, and a shoot with Nicci wouldn’t be right without….CUPCAKES. Nicci loves retro, vintage things just as I do and well I love cupcakes too. So I was SO happy I got to take the cakes home!!!! It was an absolute pleasure to meet this adorable little man who co-operated so well in going to sleep for our shoot. He has absolutely doting parents who are completely at ease with their new man. The result, some gorgeous photo’s that I just LOVE. These should make anyone sigh a big “awwwwwwwwww” from the cuteness.

January 2nd. Another HOT day. My partner in crime (my Mum) went shopping without me today. But bought home a present for me, Powderfinger Sunsets DVD. So as I am blogging I am right now listening to My Happiness, a song that if you, as an Aussie within my age group dont know the words to, should be ashamed. What a wonderful band that I have listened to and seen live since I was 18. I have been a happy passenger of the finger! (pardon the pun) Anyhow onto to today’s photo. Lily. Of Course. How could I not use her as my inspiration today. And it was a fleeting moment when she decided to wear for the first time in a LONG time La La’s hat. I haven’t taken many photo’s of Lily recently so she was more than happy to pose it up. We will see how she feels at Day #31!!!!

A Blessing to Kane and Diana | Sydney Wedding Photographer

The wonderful thing about traveling is that you meet new people. And sometimes the new people you meet become friends, and for some they become your other half. A bit over a year ago I was in town having a coffee when I saw Sharon and she so proudly introduced me to Diana, Kane’s girlfriend. My first impression. What a knockout, this girl is stunning. And from Canada. I dont have any memory of Kane having a girlfriend, he waited and waited, and well as they say the best things come to those who wait. So Kane followed his heart to Toronto, and this year he wed his beautiful Diana. As close friends and Family weren’t all able to travel OS, a few weeks ago a blessing was given to Kane and Diana by Father Whitty held at Kane’s parents. The day was perfectly planned, and we experienced all four seasons throughout the afternoon, ending with a gorgeous sunset.

A Lot Happens In a Year | Sydney Child and Family Photographer

How quickly the year has gone. I cant believe that it has been an entire year since I last visited this family to take photographs of their baby Robert. A year later and he has certainly grown up, but still so super cute with super proud parents. He was for a short time fascinated with my camera and he looked straight down the lens at me with his beautiful big brown eyes!!!

Ryan and Jaimee | Southern Highlands Photographer

Last weekend I finally got to meet this gorgeous couple. I have been communicating with Jaimee for months now via email so it was so good to finally put a face to the name! After a week of cool weather and rain, the sun emerged, and we had a steamy day in Bowral for their engagement shoot. We started off in a park with their dogs, which was fun, I forgot what its like with a massive dog that just wants to play. Then to an underpass where Jaimee and Ryan were a bit more relaxed infront of the camera. Here are some of my favourites from the day.
